It is the first day of Facebook F8 developers’ conference and, as expected, the planet’s largest social media has made a bunch of statements. Besides some large Facebook features like Clear History as well as the upcoming Dating profiles inside the Facebook program, CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg also declared a lot of new features for other Facebook-owned providers like WhatsApp.
WhatsApp, India’s favourite messaging program, is getting support for group video calling, Zuckerberg declared during his opening keynote on Tuesday. The program will also receive support for decals “soon”, the provider later revealed via a blog article.
“Voice and video calling are remarkably popular on WhatsApp, and we are excited to share that group calling will probably be coming in the months ahead. Stickers are also coming to WhatsApp soon,” the article said.
The program will support third-party stickers created by developers.
Zuckerberg also used the opportunity to reveal that WhatsApp’s Status attribute is being used by over 450 million people globally. WhatsApp for Business, the recently released service targeting firm, currently has 3 million users globally, the Facebook CEO explained.
The company also revealed that over 2 billion minutes of voice and video calls made on WhatsApp every day.
