Edward Snowden, co-winner of the correct Livelihood Award, has called on the United countries to suggest new measures to offer protection to individual privateness and human rights.

The prize, also known as the “various Nobel,” recognizes “the work of so many individuals … No longer simply over latest years” but over a long time, the former NSA methods analyst advised the award ceremony Monday in Swedish Parliament by video link.

“I hope regardless of all we have comprehensive within the final year, all of us recognize that this is best the beginning,” Snowden said, including that he might only accept the award together.

Snowden, who is still in Russia after leaking NSA documents to journalists in 2013 and faces charges in the U.S. that would land him in prison for up to 30 years, said he has no regrets about his actions.

He mentioned journalists, publishers and activists had been among those who had put “so much on the road” and many could not go home as a result of they feared arrest, together with himself.
