Days following some leaks and rumours, and following a few recent hints by its executives, OnePlus is working towards building additional hype to its OnePlus 5T. The Chinese firm has employed its social media networks to all but confirm that the ‘OnePlus 5T’ name along with also the existence of a 3.5millimeter audio jack over the upcoming smartphone.

Update 2 November, 6:45pm IST: Since this story was published, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has officially confirmed both the OnePlus 5T name along with the existence of the headphone jack in the upcoming smartphone via a discussion article detailing the rationale behind the decision.

OnePlus on Wednesday tweeted that a teaser image that points to the 3.5mm jack-equipped OnePlus 5T. The image showcases the bottom of all of the OnePlus smartphones which have been launched thus far, including the original OnePlus One along with the latest OnePlus 5, to highlight the audio jack. “What exactly do our phone have in common?”

The availability of the audio jack will produce the OnePlus 5T one of those couple flagships that still offer the port, given that the the Galaxy S8, iPhone X, and Pixel two have all done away with it.

Seconds after the first teaser, OnePlus tweeted a second image on Wednesday evening to all but confirm the title ‘OnePlus 5T’. The tweet includes an image which reveals five cups with tea bags in them — revealing the “T” behind the title of this OnePlus 5 update.

Historically, OnePlus has favoured the bible “T” to distinguish the new updates to its existing flagships. The Shenzhen-based firm last year unveiled the OnePlus 3T since the newest version of the OnePlus 3.

If we believe some previous rumours, the OnePlus 5T will be the business’s first smartphone to match with a bezel-less display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The thin bezels will shift the capsule-shaped fingerprint scanner to the back of the device.

The executives posted a few camera samples which were assumed to have been seized in the new smartphone.
