Fortnite Maker Epic Games Gets 'F' Rating From Better Business Bureau

The Founder of the wildly popular video game Fortnite has been Awarded an”F” rating from the Better Business Bureau Rather than addressing Countless complaints from Worried customers.

The BBB said that over the past year, it’s received over 270 complaints about Epic Games, that has made a fortune out of Fortnite and other favorite video games. The majority of the complaints respect customer service issues and issues with refunds and exchanges – and the majority of them were never addressed by the Cary, N.C.-based firm, the BBB said in a news release.

A spokesman for Epic Games said in a statement Thursday that the company isn’t affiliated with the BBB and it has”redirected all player submitted complaints from the BBB to our Player Support staff.” When asked how many complaints the company has obtained directly, the spokesman said Epic Games gets client service requests daily for a number of factors. He added that concerned customers should reach out to Epic Games’ customer service.

However, the BBB noted that it, also, has attempted”on several occasions” to contact Epic Games, but it never received a response from the corporation.

The BBB reported that it has received 279 complaints about Epic Games’ customer service and gaming issues within the past three years, but that 271 of them were reported in the past year, as the company’s top game, Fortnite, has taken on a life of its own.

Over the past three decades, Epic Games has made an impact on the gaming business, creating smash hits like Unreal, Gears of War and Shadow Sophisticated.

Fortnite, a last-person-standing multiplayer survival game, which was clarified by TechCrunch as” Lord of the Flies meets Hunger Games,” has turned into the most recent game craze, accumulating more than 200 million gamers and helping to earn Epic Games billions of dollars in earnings. Fortnite made $300 million (roughly Rs. 2,100 crores) in its first 200 days on Apple’s iOS platform, according to analysis from Sensor Tower.

Those profits are created in large part through in-game microtransactions in Fortnite, which can be free to perform with. Once in the game, players can buy for their characters fresh outfits and emotes, like signature dances and gestures, with V-Bucks, the game’s online currency. In-game product varies in price, with the hottest outfits and emotes ranging from $15-$20.

However, at least some gamers, and possibly their parents, are not pleased with the experience.

Some who registered complaints with the BBB explained that their credit cards were billed for in-game buys without authorisation and when approached Epic Games together with the matter, the business failed to return the cash.

“Epic Games is swindling parents using unauthorised sport purchases, tricking youthful consumers & using shady practices for billing,” one man wrote on the BBB’s website. “I authorised a 1-time Epic Games purchase for my own 11 yr-old son, only to discover EG did NOT eliminate my credit card information, & hence my son was making unauthorised purchases, racking up $140 in less than 8 days following the initial authorised buy.

“NEXT, (the) alleged customer support hyperlinks are a scamI called the major phone line & tried multiple alternatives to reach any support, only to reach multiple dead-ends. I emailed too but received a 3rd-party disclosure, so I’ve been scammed in reaching out to customer support. I strongly suspect Epic Games made their Fortnite primary web page to lure children with all the $5 match download, BUT purposely DO NOT PROVIDE parents a way to restrain their credit card security, resulting in the possibility of multiple unauthorised purchases”

Others stated the Epic Games accounts”are regularly hacked, stolen & sold to third parties” and that the company offers”no method to block thieves & recover accounts.”

“This is a SCAM,” one man said.

“I have been wronged,” another said.
