Apple along with other consumer brands Reduced prices to their products in China on Monday as a Reduction in the Nation’s value-added tax (VAT) rate came in to effect.
Cost tags for products listed on the Apple’s China site were reduced on Monday afternoon, such as a reduction of around CNY 500 (approximately $74 or even Rs. 5,100) to get a number of its newest iPhone versions.
Suggested retail prices for brands such as LVMH’s Louis Vuitton and Kering’s Gucci were cut by around 3%, according to local press reports.
It follows statements last month from auto manufacturers BMW AG and Mercedes-Benz, which stated costs for many car models would fall following the taxation changes.
Apple declined to comment on the cost reductions, while LVMH and Kering didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
Beijing stated in March that it might cut fees and taxes for many businesses by almost CNY two trillion in 2019, together with the production, transport and building businesses set to benefit since it seems to stimulate a slowing market.
